Fodor's Review

At the base of the ski slopes, Stowe Mountain Lodge would be king of the hill for location alone, but a stay here also treats to you many perks. Rustic-meets-contemporary accommodations run the gamut from studio to three-bedroom units, many with outdoor terraces. You get complimentary access to a fleet of new Mercedes-Benz cars to explore town or drive up the mountain. There's a spa and salon, a massive fitness room, an 18-hole golf course, a game room for kids, and a

huge heated outdoor pool. The "wellness lodges" include oversize hot tubs and saunas. There's also a most contemporary-looking bar and restaurant. In winter, you can watch the skiers on the mountain from your room and—with gondolas at the doorstep—join them in no time at all.

Beautiful facility but the service doesn't measure up

The hotel is beautiful and very well appointed. The rooms are lovely, the lobby one of the nicest I've ever seen, the spa, the pool, the trip up the mountain....much to do and enjoy. The staff however take themselves more seriously than they do their guests. The service we received, in several interactions, does not live up to the stature of the property and is well below the level of service experienced at equivalent properties around the world,

expected by seasoned travelers.

Go to golf or ski AND it's a great place to relax between the high seasons!

Go to golf or ski, but also go for woodland walks in the late fall and spring. Follow your walk with a hot tub and a swim outdoors! The spa is also superb as is the food. We love to eat at the bar and sit by the fire in our hotel room playing board games. It is fabulous for a couple AND tremendous for a family. And, if you just want to drive up, unload and never see your car again all weekend, it is just the spot.
