Rutland

On and around U.S. 7 in Rutland are strips of shopping centers and a seemingly endless row of traffic lights. Two blocks west, however, stand the mansions of the marble magnates. Preservation work has uncovered white and verde marble facades; the stonework harkens back to the days when marble ruled what was once Vermont's second-largest city.
