Swift House Inn Review

The 1824 Georgian home of a 19th-century governor showcases white-panel wainscoting, mahogany furnishings, and marble fireplaces. The stellar rooms—most with Oriental rugs and nine with fireplaces—have period reproductions such as canopy beds, curtains with swags, and claw-foot tubs. Some bathrooms have double whirlpool tubs. Rooms in the attractive Gatehouse suffer from street noise but are charming and a solid value. The seven-room carriage house has more expensive rooms with wood fireplaces and king-size beds.
