Central Vermont Restaurants

The Prince & The Pauper

Updated 12/23/2013

Fodor's Review

Modern French and American fare with a Vermont accent is the focus of this candlelit Colonial restaurant off the town green. The grilled duck breast might have an Asian five-spice sauce, and the boneless rack of lamb is wrapped in puff pastry and splashed with Bordelaise sauce. A three-course prix-fixe menu is available for $49; a less expensive bistro menu is available in the lounge. If you like the artwork hanging above your table, feel free to buy it.

as good as it gets in Vt

we enjoyed a wonderful meal here last winter and are trying to arrange a trip to woodstock again b/c we loved the town, and we really loved this restaurant. i had a lamb wellington (in puff pastry) - cooked to perfection - rare to med-rare as requested. the pastry was beautiful, inspiring us to get dessert as well. we were equally thrilled when the almond pear tart came. the whole meal was terrific, the wine list was good, and the service was lovely.

if anywhere near woodstock, i highly recommend trying out this quaint terrific restaurant for a romantic and delicious meal.

Great Food; Great Service

Some of the best service we've ever experienced. The cuisine is always superb with the boneless rack of lamb a not-to-be-missed favorite of ours. Reservations are a must in summer!

Well worth a visit

The food was quite good, and I would definitely visit this restaurant again.
