Is this the best pizza experience in the world? It just may be. In summer, dining takes place outside around fire pits in the beautiful valley, a setting and meal not to be forgotten. The secret is in the love, of course, but some clues to the magic are in the organically grown flour and vegetables and the wood-fired clay ovens. The "new Vermont sausage" is Waitsfield pork in a maple-fennel sausage baked with sundried tomatoes, caramelized onions, cheese, and herbs; it's a dream, as are the more traditional pizzas. This is the original American Flatbread location, and the retail bakery is open Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM-8 PM; if you're here during that time anything in the oven is yours for $10. As a restaurant, it's open only Friday and Saturday evenings. Plan your trip around it.
