The dining room in this 1796 brick farmhouse exudes 18th-century charm, but the food is decidedly from the 21st century. Former San Francisco restaurant chef-owners Will Dodson and Ruth Schimmelpfennig create inventive three- and four-course prix-fixe menus ($65 to $75) with such delicacies as venison medallions and chili and house-made chive-and-nutmeg potato gnocchi. In the back is a local favorite, Max's Tavern, which serves upscale pub fare such as beer-battered oysters and dry-rubbed pulled pork.
