Wilson Castle Review

As you drive a long country road just outside Rutland, the opulent vision of this 32-room mansion will surprise you. Completed in 1867, it was built over the course of eight years by a Vermonter who married a British aristocrat. The current owner, Blossom Wilson Davine Ladabouche, still owns the property and makes her summer home in the old servants' quarters. Within the mansion are 84 stained-glass windows (one inset with 32 Australian opals), hand-painted Italian frescos, and 13 fireplaces. It's magnificently furnished with European and Asian objets d'art.
