Don't let the size fool you: meals at this little upstairs restaurant are exciting and memorable, thanks to young couple Deirdre Heekin and Caleb Barker. Hip decor, an intimately small space, and Heekin's discreetly passionate front-of-house direction all come together to complement Barker's slow food–inspired dishes. Try ragù d'agnello e maiale (spaghetti with a ragù of roasted lamb and pork) followed by cotechino e lenticchie (garlic sausage with lentils). Reserve well in advance, as this tiny osteria fills up fast. The couple also run a farm and winery in Barnard, a consuming endeavor that often results in them closing the restaurant for weeks at a time; it's wise to call ahead before coming to make sure it's open.
