On Route 116, about 5½ mi north of East Middlebury, a U.S. Forest Service sign marks a dirt road that forks to the right and leads to the start of the two-to-three-hour hike to Abbey Pond, which has a beaver lodge and dam as well as a view of Robert Frost Mountain.
