Fodor's Expert Review The Parker House Inn
1792 Main St., Quechee, Vermont, 05059, USA
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
This beautiful 1857 house on the National Historic Register once belonged to Senator Joseph Parker, who also owned the textile mill next door; the riverfront porch offers an especially pleasant view of hot-air balloons taking off in summer. Guest rooms are bright and sunny—Norwich and Hanover are the names of two cute rooms facing the river in back that are worth inquiring about—and there's an attractive bar area and a good French bistro with a menu that changes nightly downstairs.
PROS
- organic Pharmacopia-brand toiletries
- spacious rooms
- highly picturesque landscape with lazy river
CONS
- no yard
- large parking lot with many tourists adjacent
- on main road
