Golden Hills Motel Review
Don't judge a book by its cover. This is not a beautiful resort, but the rooms are comfortable and inexpensive—where else can you get a two-room suite for under $100? This no-frills lodging is at Mount Carmel Junction, 12 mi east of the park. Its funky pink-and-blue roadside diner serves good, basic country-style fare like country-fried steak and liver and onions.

The owner gave away my room after I requested it be held until 11:00 pm.
Upon arrival the owner was incredibly rude and angry with me. Accused me of making all kinds of "special" requests and lying to me saying that he sent an email to me.
Lucky for me the Thunderbird Resort was across the street. It is many times better.
Stay there or stay at Golden Hills at your own risk. -

We've stayed two nights at the Golden Hills Motel, and the price value ratio is quite good. The Motel seems not very interesting from the outside, but the rooms are spacious, well equipped and over all CLEAN! The most pleasant surprise have been the owners and staff and the restaurant. Very friendly, most helpful and the food was great. On the contrary of most of the restaurants we've encountered on our way, the menu was not limited to steak x, steak y and steak z. I've been so glad to have some home made food, cooked with sauces and not just the usual and all this for more than reasonable prices! Unfortunately our schedule did not allow as to stay one or two more nights, because we felt really good at this Motel. Of course the place is not fancy, but as a price value level I regret not to be able to put more than 5 on the scale. Definitely for another stay in the region, we'll stay there again and we recommend the place to other travellers. Not to forget the beds are great !

Shabby run-down room. Dirty bathroom with poor ventilation. Blocked toilet that was only fixed the following day.
