There are a number of wonderful campgrounds across the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Between Big and Little Cottonwood canyons there are four higher-elevation sites. In the vicinity of Provo, American Fork, Provo Canyon, and the Hobble Creek drainage there are dozens of possibilities. Additional campgrounds are at the region's state parks and national monuments.

Sites range from rustic (pit toilets and cold running water) to posh (hot showers, swimming pools, paved trailer pads, full hookups). Fees vary, from $6 to $11 a night for tents and up to $35 for RVs, but are usually waived once the water is turned off for the winter. Site reservations are accepted at most campgrounds, but are usually limited to seven days (early birds reserve up to a year in advance). Campers who prefer a more remote setting may camp in the backcountry. You might need a permit, which is available from park visitor centers and ranger stations.
