Fodor's Review

Creative Southwestern fare such as sweet-potato tamales and blue crab and roasted corn canneloni highlight the menu at this Springdale institution, which has been serving patrons for more than 30 years. An outside dining area with fountain, stone pathways, and shade trees is an oasis, not to mention desserts like the brownie crème brûlée.

Hostess Needed a Bit of Class to Spur Us From Walking Out

Having done some research via the internet before our departure, we narrowed our evening dinning options to the Bit & Spur or the Spotted Dog Cafe. We went to B&S first, and asked for an outdoor table. When asked if we wanted dinner, we said we hadn't yet decided but did want a glass of wine and some appetizers (we thought we'd try this out before committing to staying for dinner). The host launched into a diatribe scolding us about Utah's liquor

laws. In truth, all the code says is that something must be eaten with a drink, so appetizers would have qualified. Had she done so with even a bit of class or tact, that would be one thing...but to act as if we had just asked to have an entire wine cask delivered to our table was another. Unimpressed, we proceeded to the Spotted Dog, where we found fine service, wonderful views, and scrumptous cuisine...AND YES, A GLASS OF WINE!

Ugh! This is Southwestern-Mexican Food?

This restaurant looks promising from your entrance, particularly if you eat on the outside porch. BUT the food is very mediocre, no flavor and quite bland - high price for what you get. Skip it and go to Flannigans. Eat at Flannigans every evening.

A Must if you're at Zion NP

The food is incredible - the best Mexican food I've ever had. To add to the experience, sit on the porch and eat outside.

Great food in a foodies' wasteland

This was our favorite restaurant in the Zion area.
