This swank hotel is ensconced in a former bank, distinguished by an exterior decorated with classical cornices and cartouches. Inside, the look and feel are sophisticated, eclectic, and upbeat. Rooms offer extras such as big fringed ottomans, oversize framed mirrors and beds, and lots of pillows. And, there are special rooms for especially tall folks, with extra-long beds. Bambara Restaurant, on the ground level (under separate management), is one of the city's most celebrated dining spots. Pros: A distinctive hotel in the heart of downtown. Restaurant has impeccable service and innovative food. Con: Service in the bar does not match that in the dining room.

Like most boutique or converted hotels, it's a little cramped. However, staff was attentive and restaurant was good. Convenient central downtown location.
