Salt Lake City Restaurants

Bambara

Updated 04/29/2014

Fodor's Review

Seasonal menus reflect regional American and international influences at this artfully designed destination restaurant. A tasty example is the roasted sea bass with mushroom and Sonoma dry jack polenta. The setting, formerly an ornate bank lobby adjacent to the swank Hotel Monaco, is as much of a draw as the food. An open marble-fronted kitchen, big windows framed in fanciful hammered metal swirls, and a definite "buzz" make Bambara a popular gathering spot. You can also

dine in the adjoining club, or simply enjoy a cocktail while snuggled in a velvet-lined booth.

Worthwhile

Had a great piece of salmon at Bambara; well-prepared and presented. The service was very good. If you have visted other Monaco restaurants this will feel familiar. Probably the most enjoyable place in downtown Salt Lake.

Art over substance

Bambara offers above-average food, but tries too hard on presentation. In fact, it sacrifices taste for delivery.
