Joseph Smith Memorial Building Review

Once the Hotel Utah, this building on the National Register of Historic Places is owned and operated by the Mormon Church. You can use a computer program to learn how to do genealogical research at the FamilySearch Center here (no charge; volunteers will assist you) or watch an hour-long film about the Church's teaching of how Jesus Christ appeared in the western hemisphere after his resurrection. The center has two restaurants and an elegantly restored lobby. Upstairs is the 1920 census and 70,000 volumes of personal histories of the faithful.

    Lovely lobby area

Very attractive older building in the city with a lovely ornate lobby. Well worth a pop in while in the Temple Square area.
