Park City Travel Guide

Golf

Within 20 minutes of Park City are 11 golf courses: 5 public and 6 private. The first new public course in more than a decade, Canyons Resort Golf Club, is scheduled to open in September 2014.

Park City Municipal Golf Course. On this gorgeous and challenging 6,800-yard, par-72 public course, you'll love the views of ski runs, rising peaks, historic Main Street, and an occasional moose. This public course is popular among locals and considered one of the best public courses in the area. You’ll find anything you need in the pro shop, located in the Hotel Park City right along the course. 1541 Thaynes Canyon Dr., Park City, UT, 84060. 435/615–5800. www.parkcity.org/index.aspx?page=171. $25 for 9 holes, $32.50 with cart; $50 for 18 holes, $65 with cart. 18 holes, 6800 yards, par 72.

Promontory Club. The only private club in the area to make selected tee times available to the general public, Promontory Club welcomes nonmembers on its challenging and sometimes windy Pete Dye-designed course. The club is renowned for extraordinary views and exemplary service. Six sets of tees on this course make for what some call the most level playing field on any course in Utah. 8758 Promontory Ranch Rd., Park City, UT, 84098. 435/333–4600. www.promontoryclub.com. $175 nonmember, $105 if accompanied by a member. 18 holes, 7700 yards, par 72.

Canyons Resort Golf Course. Spring 2015 marks the opening of this highly anticipated course, which adds to the plethora of summer activities at Canyons Resort. The 97-acre course uses the mountainous terrain at the base of the ski resort for a challenging game. Six holes interact with ski runs, with more than 550 feet of elevation change throughout the course. With seven par-3s, the course is not for the faint of heart, but the views alone make it worth checking out no matter what your level. 4000 Canyons Resort Dr., Canyons Resort, Park City, UT, 84098. 888/226–9667. www.canyonsresortgolfcourse.com. Call for price information. 18 holes, 6256 yards, par 70.
