Desert Thread

Small-town yarn shops are as scarce as hen's teeth, and this one is especially sweet. Run by sisters Cathy and Rosie, it offers a wide selection of beautiful yarn, from fancy to simple, as well as needles, finished pieces, jewelry, and books. If you're sticking around the area for a while, you can sign up for a class or attend the weekly group knit night.

GearHeads Outdoor Store

If you forget anything for your camping, climbing, hiking, or other outdoor adventure, you can get a replacement here. GearHeads is packed with essentials and fun extras like booties and packs for your dog, water filtration straws, and cool souvenirs. The store's owners invented a high-end LED flashlight that has become very popular with the U.S. military, available at the store.

Featuring all local artists and artisans, the fun shop is a great place to find a personal gift for someone or that perfect piece of art to help you remember your Utah trip. The offerings here are diverse, including prints, jewelry, ceramics, and calendars. The more you look around this creative, colorful space, the more pieces you'll find you want. 

Moonflower Community Cooperative

A peek into the crunchy side of Moab, Moonflower is owned by 1,800 members, though anyone can shop here. The centrally located market is a great place to pick up produce, grab-and-go deli items, house-made baked goods (including vegan options), and hot breakfast and lunch choices. There's also a wide selection of essential oils, soaps, other personal-care products. When you first walk in, check out the vibrant bulletin board full of community events.

Thin Bear Indian Arts

The Hosler family has operated this tiny little trading post in the same location since 1973. Authentic jewelry, rugs, baskets, and pottery are for sale at this friendly spot.

Tom Till Gallery

Moab photographer Tom Till is internationally known for his stunning original photographs of the Arches and Canyonlands areas, as well as other regions of the world. His gallery features mostly images of southeastern Utah but also includes other gorgeous, remote places to fuel your wanderlust. Till and fellow photographer Bryan Haile offer personally guided, instructional photography tours of the surrounding area. You'll see many iconic spots and some lesser-known gems and learn how to capture them in photos. While the gallery is open daily through the height of the tourist season, opening times are variable from November through February, with the gallery also open by appointment.
