Fodor's Review:

For anyone with an abiding interest in the ancient Anasazi Indians, now called Ancestral Puebloans, a visit to this archaeological site is a must. Along a remote stretch of the Utah-Colorado border southeast of Blanding, Hovenweep features several unusual tower structures that may have been used for astronomical observations. A ½-mi walking tour, or a more rigorous 1½-mi hike into the canyon, allows you to see the ancient dwellings. A 32-site campground is available for overnighters in tents or small vehicles.

  • Cost: $6
  • Open: Daily 8AM-sunset
