If you're traveling between Capitol Reef and Bryce Canyon national parks, don't miss this wonderful lodge along scenic Highway 12. A 5-acre pond on the pastoral grounds is a sanctuary for ducks, coots, and other waterfowl, and horses graze in a meadow opposite. Large, modern rooms with balconies or patios offer gorgeous views of the wetlands. The main lodge contains a great room with fireplace, and there's a fine art gallery and remarkably good restaurant on the premises. The service and care given to guests here is impeccable. Pros: A perfect spot for peace and solitude. Cons: Some might find the middle-of-nowhere location too remote.
