Capitol Reef National Park Sights

The Waterpocket Fold Review

A giant wrinkle in the earth that extends almost 100 miles between Thousand Lake Mountain and Lake Powell, the Waterpocket Fold is not to be missed. You can glimpse the fold by driving south on Scenic Drive—after it branches off Highway 24—past the Fruita Historic District, but for complete immersion enter the park via the 66-mile Burr Trail from the town of Boulder. Travel through the southernmost reaches of the park requires a substantial amount of driving on unpaved roads. It's accessible to most vehicles during dry weather; check at the visitor center for road conditions.
