Getting Here and Around

The closest major cities to Bryce Canyon are Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, each about 270 mi away. The nearest commercial airport is 80 mi west in Cedar City, Utah. The park is reached via Route 63, just 3 mi south of the junction with Highway 12.

You can see the park's highlights by driving along the well-maintained road running the length of the main scenic area. Bryce has no restrictions on automobiles on the main road, but in the summer you may encounter heavy traffic and full parking lots. A shuttle bus system operates from mid-May through September. Use of it comes free with your park entrance fee. The shuttle departs from the staging area off Highway 12 about 3 mi north of the park entrance every 15 minutes. Stops include Best Western Ruby's Inn, the North Campground, the visitor center, and all major overlooks in the northern portion of the park. The shuttle can be helpful in planning a one-way hike.
