American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum

Fodor's Review:

Did you know that the quarter horse got its name because it runs a faster quarter-mile than all other horses? This museum celebrates quarter horses with a hall of fame, exhibits, theater, paintings, and live demonstrations of feeding and saddling during summer camp. (And in case you're wondering just how fast quarter horses run, they can do 50 mph or more for short distances.)

  • Cost: $4
  • Open: Early Sept.-late May, Mon.-Sat. 9-5; Memorial Day-Labor Day, Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. noon-5
