Stepping onto this beautiful property spotted with historic cabins and private courtyards with glowing firepits, you won't believe Main Street is just a stone's throw away. The main lodge is a renovated 1850s barn, with an inviting library and formal dining room on the far part of the building. Rooms are elegantly decorated with individual styles, from rustic Texas to French countryside. A lovely spa is on-site, but the full experience of the Hoffman Haus is in joining one of the terrific cooking classes offered by chef-owner Leslie Washburne ($65 per person). Pros: Close to Main Street yet private and peaceful; excellent, comfortable beds; breakfasts are hot, filling, and delicious—and delivered right to your room. Cons: Not ideal for children; difficult to relax if a big event, such as a wedding, is going on in the main lodge.

We reserved the entire property for our daughter's wedding. The rooms are immaculate and beautifully decorated. Everyone loved the main lodge with multiple places to sit, watch TV or a movie, read one of the hundreds of library books, or play many of the age appropriate games. Outside is a tranquil treat with well groomed gardens and a poi filled pond.
Most rooms have a patio with outdoor furniture.
There were 4 children 6 and under who enjoyed their stay here. The piano, games, DVD's and fish feeding kept them entertained.
Breakfast was brought to each room the first morning: the fresh pastries, fruit, and warm quiche were delicious. A buffet breakfast was served Sunday morning in the lodge: Scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles with peach compote--a truly wonderful experience shared with family.
The service is outstanding: Courtney Mode will work tirelessly to help ease the stress of arranging a large event.
Housekeepers will honor any request.
The only negative I received from family: low shower water pressure.
The location is close to all of Fredericksburg's shops and restaurants.
We would certainly stay here if in the Texas Hlll Country.
