Fodor's Expert Review Santos Taqueria y Cantina
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
There's a certain positive energy when you enter this family-run place where you can watch fresh gorditas hand-pressed in the open kitchen and owner Santo Silerio's grandmother stirring up a fresh batch of creamy chili con queso. Be sure to try a squash gordita. A magical thing happens when squash, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, poblano peppers, and a few special ingredients are simmered together and served in a hot pocket with queso blanco and some sautéed chicken. Order the corn gorditas rather than the flour. Though it takes a few extra minutes, the old adage is true: good things come to those who wait.
