Fodor's Review

In a private mansion with a Moorish-style courtyard, this museum reopened in summer 2008 with a new 45,000-square-foot exhibition center that gives a modernist twist to the landmark home once owned by artist and oil heiress Marion Koogler McNay. Housing a collection of Postimpressionist and modern paintings and sculpture, along with an arts library, the walls of the 24-room house are adorned with works by Gauguin, Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso, and Van Gogh. Twenty-three acres of landscaped gardens surround the museum.
