El Tropicano Holiday Inn Riverwalk

Fodor's Review:

If you like "tropical, Latin, and glitzy," then this is the hotel for you. The lobby, restaurant, and common areas capture the feel of an Acapulco resort. A major renovation in 2006 updated common areas and rooms, although the building sometimes shows its age. Kids love the aviary filled with tropical birds, and exotic drinks available at the bar make parents feel like they're one step closer to paradise. Make sure to ask for a riverfront room. The hotel hosts many conferences, so staff are ready to serve a business traveler's needs. In-house Mangos restaurant has alfresco dining along a quiet stretch of the River Walk. Pros: Fun and festive, kid-friendly, good value. Cons: Somewhat noisy, and some consider the theme too touristy.
