Biga on the Banks

Biga on the Banks Review

Like Texas, enthusiastic chef Bruce Auden's menu is big and eclectic, and the dining atmosphere manages to be both bigger than life and romantic. Dishes change daily to take advantage of the freshest food available, ranging from seared red grouper grits to 11-spice axis venison chops. Don't skip out on dessert, which may be the best in town: the sticky toffee pudding is a must. This is one of the best spots for a leisurely dinner on the River Walk, if you can get a reservation.

This was hands down our best meal on a recent trip to San Antonio. Our Australian rack of lamb and flounder with crab entrees were delicious, as was
the sticky toffee pudding dessert. Service was terrific. We enjoyed the
restaurant's ambience. We would definitely return here.

To celebrate our 45th Anniversary, we wanted a special place. We chose Biga on the Banks and were not disappointed. The service, by Cesar, was great. He really took care of us on this busy Saturday night (12/15) during the Christmas season. Our Rib Eye steaks ($40) were done to perfection and the mashed potatoes were to die for. There isn't much in the way of riverviews since the restaurant is on the 2nd or third floor, not on the river as most othe restaurants are. However, that is small stuff compared to the wonderful evening we had.
