Schilo's Deli Review

This venerable downtown institution has been serving up hearty German soul food at breakfast (served daily), lunch, and dinner since 1917. Fuel up for a walking tour of downtown with thick split-pea or lentil soup, corned beef, sausage, deli sandwiches, or weekday lunch specials such as chicken and dumplings or meat loaf. Wash it down with fantastic homemade root beer and top off your meal with cheesecake—if you have room.

    Good food but awful smell!

    I'm German, I live in Wisconsin, I eat sauerkraut. No big deal.
    The stench of sauerkraut in Schilo's was almost unbearable. But, the food and service were very good.
