Institute of Texan Cultures
Institute of Texan Cultures Review
Beyond the Tower of the Americas, this interactive museum affiliated with the University of Texas focuses on the 25 ethnic groups who have made Texas what it is today. Walk through a re-created sharecropper's house, or listen to an animated, recorded conversation that might have taken place between a Spanish governor and a Comanche chief in the 1790s. Most days costumed docents mill about the museum, ready to educate visitors on the role of a chuck-wagon cook on a cattle drive or the rigors of frontier life for women.
