Houston and Galveston Hotels

Westin Oaks

  • Connected to Galleria, reliable upscale chain

  • Traffic is bad, some public rooms in need of refurbishing

Fodor's Review

Rooms and suites at this 18-story hotel are oversized and elegantly decorated in cream and white. The hotel (and its near-identical sister property, The Westin Galleria) is within the Galleria shopping and office complex in Uptown Houston, so Neiman Marcus and 350 other stores and restaurants are just a short stroll away. There is an outdoor jogging track.

Terrible hotel

The bed was very comfortable but everything else about this hotel was wretched. Half of the carpeting in the room was soaked, the furniture - both in the room and in the public areas - was falling apart, and the general condition was appalling. Its location makes it appealing as a hotel but do not be fooled - this hotel should not be used by anyone.

Worst Westin in the World

Given the price charged for this dump I can't imagine Westin keeping this franchise here. Furnishings are circa 1972 and rooms have mold throughout. Add a musty smell in the lobby and you have a mold allergy nightmare. As a Starwood Platinum member I will bad mouth this place until it no longer carries the Westin name

Bed good - all else bad

I can't believe that this is still a Westin. The Heavenly Bed is great, but the rooms are 70s chic (without the chic). This property badly needs to update the room decor.

A bucket of paint could do wonders!

Stayed at the Westin Galleria, the "other" Westin tower in this complex. It was last renovated about 15-20 years ago. Dirty carpets throughout, furniture that is below yard sale quality and smoking stains all over. Great location but the hotel was a terrible value. I've stayed at better Hampton Inns.
