Fodor's Review

An excellent choice for vegetarian cuisine, this eclectic bungalow in the Montrose neighborhood serves an avocado-and-mushroom-topped veggie burger plate that has been popular since 1975. Named after a Slavic witch, Baba Yega offers an award-winning weekend brunch, and full bar as well. Enjoy people-watching out front under the shade of a century-old oak tree, or dine on the covered patio before a waterfall and herb garden.

Business at Baba Yega's is Busier than the Bruschetta

Baba Yega is an excellent site for a garden wedding and reception in the Jasmine Room. My children were married in a beautiful double wedding ceremony on New Year's Eve 1999. So lovely in fact that I decided to marry there this past summer. We had a setting that mimiced a "destination wedding" for our pictures and guests. The food was fabulous. The kitchen even handled our cake which was a delicious amaretto flavor. The staff is accomodating.

Friendly, Unique, Delicious and Eclectic Escape from Houston

I go to Baba Yega just about every week. My boyfriend first took me there on a date over a year ago, and we have gone there several times since. They have a menu to satisfy anyone's appetite. The bar/wine list is also top-rate at reasonable prices. Baba Yega is a true retreat from the city life of Houston, nestled in the quaintly cultured area of Montrose My favorite on the menu is the seared sesame encrusted tuna salad--it's like sashimi--served

rare. It's to die for and is accompanied by a perfect blend of greens, cucumbers, capers, tomatos, avocado, and viniagrette. My boyfriend usually goes for the burger and fries, which are excellent too.
