Catalan Food & Wine
Catalan Food & Wine Review
From the people who brought Houston Ibiza Restaurant and Lounge comes Catalan Food and Wine Bar, a smashing Spanish tapas emporium with consistently outstanding service, innovative food, and reasonably priced wines. Tables are cozily jam-packed together, and a cheerful hum reigns over a high-ceilinged, chandeliered dining room. Outstanding small plates include foie-gras bonbons with watermelon jelly, crispy pork belly, and spicy gulf shrimp. On the big-plates side are seared tuna over foraged mushrooms, roasted lamb porterhouse, and fillet of beef a la plancha (grilled). Save room for desserts like the white-chocolate and dried-cherry bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. Be sure to make reservations—this place is always packed.
