Fodor's Review

Spread over 18 acres in a wooded area near Memorial Park, the quiet, lodge-like Houstonian has luxurious rooms and sports facilities galore—golf (off-site), tennis, a climbing wall, and indoor racket games, plus one of the nation's largest fitness centers, weighing in at 125,000 square feet.

Still Quircky ...still pretty good

I have been staying at the Houstonian for over 20 years and it is still a haven in a loud, air-polluted, ugly city. The pool, hot-tub and fitness facility are alone worth the premium. The rooms are still quite good, but the bathrooms are far below the standard and price range of this hotel. They need to be redone since forever. The quircky is the parking....in a city that is virtually only a big paved, free parking lot, you are supposed to pay

$10 per day to self park in their garage, when you are already paying over $300 for a room! The staff are great and I will stay loyal till something better comes along....which I doubt.

STAY HERE! I love this place

The Houstonian is an oasis in the city. We can all acknowlege that Houston does not have the best climate or geography -- BUT it is a wonderful city with a very friendly and energetic vibe. The Houstonian does capture this. Be sure to take advantge of the new pools, the health club and spa - world class!

Never know you are in the city

I travel to Houston frequently for business. This place is a dream! Since I travel 80% of the time, it is nice to come to a place where it feels like home. The big plus is the use of the workout facility. I have not see anything like it at any other hotel. I am not sure what was going on in 2002, but in 2004, this place is perfection!

Simply Marvelous!

Exclusive Texas. Enjoyed the grand lobby, beautiful wooded grounds, track, workout club was huge and high class. The room had a view of just trees. Beautiful. Highly recommend this hotel.
