While service and general atmosphere seem to be slipping lately, the Hotel Derek is still a good value for its location and sophistication. Modern furnishings grace the glossy-floored lobby and the 314 sleek, contemporary rooms. It's a favorite of both business and leisure travelers looking for an alternative to a traditional chain hotel. The scene-y Bistro Moderne restaurant and bar closed in late 2007; new concepts are on the drawing board at this writing. Pros: Interesting decor, complimentary shuttle around town, great pool area. Cons: Congested location, expensive valet parking.

Nice Hotel near Galleria Mall. We stayed for 5 days. The room was good but one day the didn´t clean it up we never knew why? They gave us 2 free breakfast at the bistro modern and was excellent the food & the service. If you stay there look for the Concierges John and Rolland they will help you with anything you need. Cool hotel, cozy room and nice bistro you just should have better service in the front desk...
