Fodor's Review

Well-heeled travelers enjoy the hotel's plush accommodations and thorough service (including butlers on some floors), and local swells arrive for afternoon tea. Rooms are luxuriously furnished, with individually selected artwork, plus Pratesi linens, fully stocked minibars, terrycloth robes, and marble bathrooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows let you gaze on the magical downtown skyline or lush Memorial Park. In River Oaks, the St. Regis is convenient to Downtown and the Galleria area. The pool area is elegant and relaxing, and there's a spa on site to melt your cares away. In addition to a restaurant, the hotel has a tea lounge and a bar serving light fare.

Luxurious accommodations

I really enjoyed my stay here last New Year's. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the service was excellent. Our room was casually elegant and very comfortable. Normally I enjoy the Remington Bar, but it was, however, overcrowded on New Year's despite the cover charge. The location is convenient to the Galleria area but slightly secluded.

Great if you love train whistles all night

The rooms are beautiful, the common areas immaculate, the food excellent. But, the one and now only time I stayed trains came through every 20 minutes or so all night, blowing their (very loud) whistles every time. The next morning, when I mentioned this to the front desk, they replied, "Oh, we'll note in your profile to give you a quiet room next time." I told them not to bother, there would never be a "next time."
