Dallas-Fort Worth Shopping

Dallas has an international reputation as a place to buy trendy clothes, western apparel, and art. Neiman Marcus started in Dallas and still operates its original Downtown store, though Neiman's has expanded into shopping malls.Four major areas compete for designer boutiques: Galleria, NorthPark, Highland Park Village, and the Shops at Willow Bend. You won't find many bargains in these areas unless

you're patient enough to wait for sales, but that doesn't keep shoppers from packing the stores on weekends.Art galleries and stores with expensive antiques are plentiful in the Uptown area. You will find these shops along McKinney Avenue, Cedar Springs, Routh, and other streets. Look to Lower Greenville Avenue, Deep Ellum, and the Bishop Arts District of Oak Cliff for fun and funky art, furniture, and collectibles. These areas have a nice mix of shops, restaurants, and nightclubs. The Stockyards in Fort Worth offers all kinds of western wear and decor—from practical to extravagant. Unique gifts, jewelry, and collectibles can be found at all the museum shops in the Cultural District and in small businesses around Sundance Square. Southwest of Downtown Fort Worth is Hulen Mall, anchored by ubiquitous Texas department stores Dillard's, Macy's, and Sears; it also contains such mall standards as Coach, the Disney Store, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Banana Republic.
