Fodor's Review:

Housed in the Beaux-Arts Adolphus Hotel, Dallas's finest old hotel (dating from 1912), this elegant restaurant serves such French-inspired classics as spiced duck breast with seared foie gras in bigarade sauce, venison loin with pineapple confit and cauliflower puree, and soufflés. The highly skilled service staff is gracious and warm. The formal dining room is layered with gorgeous murals and rich textures. The French Room is an excellent choice for an extraordinary occasion. Jeans and tennis shoes are prohibited.

Over the years I had begun to dismiss the French Room.. it was excellent, service, food but... there was something missing.. it had become the traditonal dimly lit 5 star, french rococo decor high ceilings, nice looking, finely attired people about, hotel patrons and locals alike; reliable but conversative. Then about a year ago I went after a long absence and was blown away by the food. Did they get a new leading chef? I don't know but so wonderful... I go whenever I am able. The waiters, sommelier (however that is spelled)...all the staff always seem very happy. great at their profession but comfortable with themselves, comfortable in their uniforms. Adolphus hires the right people. It makes a difference..
