President Franklin D. Roosevelt dined here in the mid-1930s, according to lore, after the restaurant had already been open about a decade. One of the restaurant's most popular entrées honors FDR's visit with the Roosevelt special -- a cheese enchilada smothered in chili gravy and onions, a tostada, and a crispy taco, a fine sampling of Tex-Mex cuisine. There's nothing fancy about the digs or the food here; both are sturdy, reliable, and continue to draw crowds.
