Fodor's Review:

If you can get to the Stockyards, you shouldn't miss dining at Lonesome Dove, where sophisticated and exotic food is served in a setting of brick walls, rustic hardwoods, and a pressed-tin ceiling. Chef Tim Love's creations include kangaroo carpaccio nachos with avocado relish, chili-rubbed foie-gras brûlée, and grilled New Zealand red deer chops served with truffle mac and cheese. Less adventurous options include, at lunch, meatloaf with barbecue sauce, chipotle mashed potatoes, and sautéed spinach and a grilled ham-and-cheese sandwich with tomato-basil soup.

It's such a rare experience to have a meal which satisfies from the drinks to the dessert. Lonesome Dove Bistro performs all fantastically! Listen to your server, especially if you get Allasan, as they know how & what to order. Start with a variety of apps, you can order smaller portions of each, get as many as you can - especially the bacon wrapped figs! Then try the "steak & eggs salad," a deconstruction of it's namesake with Kobe beef & a perfectly cooked petit egg with vinaigrette. The butter lettuce salad with lardoons is fabulous too. For an entree the garlic stuffed tenderloin is to die for! Believe it or not, they inject carmelized garlic into the center of the meat - just the right amount of garlic permeates throughout the cut and the reduction sauce complements perfectly. For dessert, listen to Allasan, try the flan. I'm not a flan person at all, but this was creamy, smooth and had the perfect mix of fresh vanilla bean and caramel. Overall, this was the best meal we've had in several years. The clientele on weekdays seem to be the well-to-do & litigious of Fort Worth ... they appear to take the food for granted as they were less apt to fawn over their plates than us out-of-towners. I recommend the Lonesome Dove Bistro for an all-around fantastic dining experience!
