Perhaps it's the vibrant atmosphere or the fresh, playful flavors chef Rene Ortiz consistently delivers from his Mexican-inspired menu, but La Condesa never disappoints when looking for a reliable downtown dining locale to please all palates. The ceviche menu offers a whole host of fresh combinations from sea trout with tomatillo salpicon and pineapple-aji sorbet, to scallops with lemongrass-coconut cream, avocado, Fresno chile and grapefruit. You'll also find selections
of bite-sized tostadas and petite tacos, or "taquitos," such as crispy pork shoulder with black beans and tangy tomatillo-avocado salsa or dark and delicious three-day mole sauce served with citrus rotisserie chicken and fresh tortillas. The vibe is always buzzing and service is generally spot on. Desserts from pastry chef Laura Sawicki are worth the wait with slightly savory sweets like dulce de leche pudding cake with sweet corn, saffron and cream cheese ice cream.
