A rather plebian, nondescript exterior belies the madcap, joyous interior of the former home and office compound of influential postmodern architect and teacher Charles W. Moore (1925-93). Called "a tiny village that wants to be a cathedral" and compared to such architectural treasures as Monticello and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin, the compound of small houses was preserved in the nick of time following Moore's death, thanks to the Charles W. Moore Foundation. The current owners cooperate with the foundation in arranging tours (available by appointment only) and fund-raisers here.
