There are post offices in most mountain towns of any size, including all the towns listed in this guide. Asheville has seven post offices, along with a dozen or more post offices in suburban areas and towns around the city. FedEx, UPS, and DHL also are ubiquitous.
Most chain motels and larger hotels and inns in the region now have broadband Internet, either wired or wireless. Increasingly, broadband connections are included in the room rate, but some properties charge a fee, typically $5 to $10 a day. Some B&Bs and small mountain resorts don't offer Internet in guest rooms but usually can provide a connection on request. Most coffeehouses in the region, which total close to 50, are wireless hot spots where customers can use their laptops to check e-mail and surf the Web at no cost.
