Wachovia, Bank of America, Branch Banking & Trust, and RBC Centura are the major national and regional banks that have offices in western North Carolina. In addition, there are dozens of local independent banks. Wachovia and Bank of America in particular have branches in most major towns in the region. Most bank offices are open weekdays 9 to 5, often until 6 PM on Friday. Saturday hours are uncommon. Nearly all of the bank offices have 24-hour ATMs.
