Southern home-style cooking is the pride of the region, and meals at restaurants are often served family style, with heaping plates of vegetables and mountains of rolls and cornbread. The rule is, come hungry: portions are plenteous. Mountain trout is a favorite, and a sort of culinary one-upmanship has resulted in at least 15 different ways to cook this delicate fish, often served with head and tail attached. There are no public dining facilities inside the park, but plenty are nearby.
