Lakeview Drive Fontana Lake Overlook

Lakeview Drive Fontana Lake Overlook Review

This is the first scenic overlook you come to after entering the park on Lakeview Drive, better known as the "Road to Nowhere." It's a little more than 3 mi from the Lakeview entrance to the park. You can see parts of Fontana Lake, which marks the southwestern boundary of the park. The lake, part of the Tennessee Valley Authority system, is drawn down at times, especially in the fall, so the lake level and the shoreline change significantly depending on whether the gates on Fontana Dam, the tallest dam in the East, are open or closed.
