Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont Review

Located within the park at Tremont, this residential environmental education center offers a variety of programs year-round for student groups, teachers, and families. The adult programs include photography, crafts, naturalist certification, and backpacking nature trips. Summer camp programs are offered for children 9-17, starting at $523. Family camp weekends for a family of four, including accommodations, meals, and instructional programs cost $422 ($95 for each additional family member). A week-long family program is $1,216 ($304 for each additional family member). Accommodations at Tremont are in Caylor Lodge, a heated and air-conditioned dormitory that can sleep up to 125 people, and also in tents on platforms. Meals are served family-style in a large dining hall. Some 4,000 students and adults attend programs at the Institute each year.
