Getting Here and Around

Wind Cave is 56 mi from Rapid City, via U.S. 16 and Highway 87, which runs through the park, and 73 mi southwest of Badlands National Park. The nearest commercial airport is in Rapid City. U.S. 385 and Highway 87 travel the length of the park on the west side. Additionally, two unpaved roads, NPS Roads 5 and 6, traverse the northeastern part of Wind Cave. NPS Road 5 joins Highway 87 at the park's north border.
