This South Dakota original got its start in 1931 by offering free ice water to road-weary travelers. Today its four dining rooms seat 520 visitors at a time. A life-size mechanical Cowboy Orchestra and Chuckwagon Quartet greet you inside, and in the back you'll see an animated T. rex and replicas of Mt. Rushmore and a native village. The attached Western Mall has 14 shops selling all kinds of keepsakes from cowboy hats, boots and Black Hills gold jewelry to T-shirts and
fudge. But don't skip the doughnuts.
