There's a Caribbean sensibility to this five-story chain hotel; the grounds are beautifully landscaped with deciduous and evergreen bushes, and palms run along the beach. This resort is far more casual, laid-back, and more family- than business-friendly. The smallest accommodations are large, commodious studios with a kitchenette; they go on up to two-bedroom suites. Many rooms face the ocean, and all are decorated with elegant wood furnishings, such as hand-carved armoires. A new, urbane lounge called the XO is a happening nightspot. HH Prime is the steak house, and the excellent deli/breakfast restaurant is being expanded at this writing. The resort has three pools, one strictly for little children, another for families, and an adults-only pool overlooking the ocean. Prices span a long range; online deals can be the best, with outdoor cabana massages, breakfast, and a bottle of wine included in some packages. Pros: competes more with condos than hotels because of the size of its accommodations; lots of outdoor dining options. Cons: boisterous wedding parties can be too noisy; problems with cell reception; minimum stay is two nights during summer.
